Freedom, Sacrifice, and Unity: A PRPL HRT 4th of July Reflection

As fireworks light up the night sky this Independence Day, we at PRPL HRT MVMNT take a moment to reflect on what freedom truly means — and the immense courage it takes to preserve it.

For us, the 4th of July is more than a celebration of our nation’s birth. It’s a day to honor the resilience of those who have sacrificed — in battle, in recovery, in the ongoing fight for sobriety, and in overcoming personal adversity. It’s a day to recognize the strength it takes to keep going, to heal, to rise again with purpose.

This movement was born out of that spirit.

PRPL HRT is rooted in the legacy of Elmer Vallie, a World War II tank operator under General Patton and a Purple Heart recipient. His story — of bravery, grit, and quiet strength — fuels our mission. Alongside co-founders Garold Vallie and Trevor Kamin, we created PRPL HRT MVMNT to stand for those who keep showing up, even when life knocks them down.

This 4th of July, we lift up our veterans, our amputee warriors, our friends in recovery, and anyone who’s ever felt broken and still found a way to shine.

Let this holiday remind us that true freedom isn’t just about the flag we fly — it’s about the freedom to heal, to be seen, and to be supported through community and compassion.

To all who serve, who struggle, and who rise — we see you. We thank you. We move with you.

From our family to yours, Happy Independence Day.
